“I need to replace my Jenn-Air cooktop. Currently I have a center downdraft because my kitchen has a vaulted ceiling-no way to use an exhaust fan. I cannot find a cooktop with a downdraft! Is that required other than for smells?”

Hey there, and thanks for reaching out to us. We appreciate your interest in a GE cooktop, and regret any trouble you've had with finding a good fit for your set up. We know this may have caused concern. We have manufactured downdraft cooktops in the past, and we can advise we do also have telescopic downdraft systems. These can be installed with most of our gas and electric cooktops; two examples of these systems are model numbers UVB36DKBB and UVB30DKBB. These retractable vents can also be a great look for your kitchen. Effective venting while cooking is generally recommended, to avoid build-up of potentially harmful fumes, heat and smell accumulation, possible staining, etc. We hope this information is helpful, and remain available to assist with any further questions or concerns.
