Q: QuestionCAN THIS HOOD BE USED ABOVE MY OVEN IN AN ISLAND - NOT WALL MOUNT?

Q: QuestionHi there, I watched the install video and I’m wondering how high the two pieces of the went cover are. If I don’t want to have any break in the vent and only want one piece how tall is the first piece so I wouldn’t have to use the second piece.

• A:Answer Hi, Thanks for asking! We appreciate you choosing GE Appliances and we'd like to help. We found that the lower cover is 13" and the upper cover can add anywhere from up to 4-3/8" to 11 7/16". The part we believe you're referring to measures 13". Q: QuestionHello, I'm interested in this 30" stainless steel hood for an 8 ft ceiling, do I have to buy the vent cover separately or is it included? I'm trying to match the same GE stainless steel oven Model #PGS930YPFS, is this the same finish as the hood?

• A:Answer Hi there! We appreciate your question. There is not a special kit you would need to vent this unit externally. Page 3, in the Advance Planning section, of the installation instruction talks about the type and size of ducting that you need to use. Page 6 also offers a diagram and chart for ceiling height that you can refer to. We hope this helps! Emily@GEA

Q: QuestionThis range must go all the way to ceiling? What if it doesn't. Does grease come out top. Last hood was your basics range cover mounted to wall. Trying find hood for my whirlpool stove bought from you. Not looking for range cost more than stove.

• A:Answer Hi Anita - CFM Ratings: 150 (Working Speed); 340 (High Speed); 350 (Boost). Sones Ratings: 1.0 (Working Speed); 5.1 (High Speed); 6.6 (Boost Speed). Working speed is the lowest speed at which you get at least 100 CFMs Working speed is a testing level required by HVI (Home Venting Institute) and it should allow you to compare product performance differences a little easier. Quiet range hoods are generally 1-3 sones. We use a third party (HVI) to certify hoods for CFMs and Sones. HVI Certification programs were created to provide a fair and credible method of comparing ventilation performance of similar products.
