  • QuestionDo you have a cooktop for 30 amp

    Asked by sandy.

    • Answer Hello, thank you for taking the time to reach out to us! If you’re looking only for 36” cooktops, it may be difficult to find one for 30 AMPS. This model, JP3036TLWW, comes in white and can run on 29.0 amps at 208v; however, it is recommended to run on 40 amps. There are a few 30” models that are recommended for 30 amp such as JP3030TJWW. If you’re not opposed to purchasing a 30”, we recommend this model for the needs you specified. We hope this helps and if you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out. All the best – Matthew@GEA

  • QuestionI am installing new cabinets. I have an 36" sink base cabinet for the cooktop. Will this one work for this GE 36" electric cooktop?

    Asked by sb.

    • Answer Hi sb - Thanks for reaching out to us! We truly appreciate your interest in this built-in cooktop and are happy to offer you some guidance in this. This 36" cooktop requires cutout opening dimensions of 33-7/8 x 19-1/8 (Width x Depth). If your cabinetry countertop can be installed for this cutout, the cooktop will properly fit in this opening. We would recommend that you refer to pages 4-5 of the cooktop's Use and Care Manual for additional guidance on preparing the cutout opening to ensure that this installation will work for you! Please feel free to reach out if you have any additional questions about this cooktop or installing it in the future. We are always happy to help! -Eliza@GE

  • QuestionMy existing cut-out is 19 7/8 x 34 3/4 for a 36inch cooktop. Will this GE model fit? I see there is an extension kit for 30" model but no mention for 36"

    Asked by ds.

    • Answer Hi ds - - Thanks for reaching out to us and for your patience! We appreciate your interest in this electric cooktop and are happy to offer you some guidance in this. The required cutout dimensions for this cooktop are 19-1/8" depth x 33-7/8" width. Given that your current cutout is slightly larger, unfortunately this cooktop will not properly fit. - We do offer a cooktop filler kit for 30" cooktops that can be used for replacing a larger cooktop with a smaller one that requires a smaller cutout in the counter; however, there is not a filler kit for 36" cooktops. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. - Please feel free to reach out to us via our Contact Us page online and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have about finding a replacement cooktop model that will work for you. • Questioncan you use any kind of pans on this top like cast iron?

    Asked by benny.

    • Answer Hi Benny - Thanks for viewing GE Model JP3036SLSS! Stainless Steel and heavy-weight aluminum is highly recommended. Porcelain Coated Cast Iron cookware is okay as long as the cookware is covered completely with porcelain enamel. Caution is recommended when using cast iron cookware that is not completely covered with smooth porcelain enamel, as it may scratch the glass ceramic cooktop. • QuestionWhat size of wier do I use for my new 5 burner electric cook top

    Asked by Jerry.

    • Answer Hi Jerry - Thanks for choosing GE Model JP3036DLBB! We do not provide the AWG wiring size or gauge (the physical thickness of the wire) for those trying to wire their house for any cooking appliance. There are too many variables involved, such as: length, type of wire, etc. This is a safety issue; if the wrong size wire is used, the insulation covering the wire can overheat, melt and cause a fire. The power leads supplied with this appliance are suitable for connection to heavier gauge household wiring. The insulation of these leads is rated for temperatures much higher than the temperature rating of the household wiring. The current-carrying capacity of the conductor is governed by the wire gauge and the temperature rating of the insulation around the wire. Local electrical codes must always be followed for these situations. Please contact a local licensed electrician for more detailed information. Cooktops have 3 wires - red, black, and bare ground. (The neutral from the house is not used and should be capped). GE Appliances uses all copper wires, there is however a light coating of tin covering the wire. This gives the appearance of aluminum wiring and prevents the copper from oxidizing.
