Hi Robert- Thanks for choosing GE! The water levels cannot be increased. Since frontload washers do not require the tub to fill with water, significantly less water is required to thoroughly wash and rinse each load. Except for certain cycles like Delicates/Handwash and Tub Clean that use more water, you will not see a visible water line on the door glass. For reference, see page 20 of the Owner's Manual: http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-90542-2.pdf - Front load washers are known for their energy efficiency and convenient features. Unlike the top loader, the front loader's wash basket is set horizontally, and uses gravity to pull water through clothes. And because the basket never has to fill completely with water you end up using only a third of the water a top loader uses, but your clothes get just as clean. You also use less detergent, which means more money savings and fewer chemicals. Keep in touch! SUE@GEA
