“I am looking for a washer with the new agitator like this model has. I do not want the lid to lock during the wash cycle. What is the locking pattern on this model? If this model locks during wash, please recommend a GE model meeting these requirements.”

Hi Fastforward - Thanks for choosing GE! Starting in 2015, top-load washers feature a lid lock that engages when the washer is either load-sensing (Precise Fill) before and during fill, or when it is spinning above 50 RPM (safety feature). It does not lock for the entire cycle or during the wash cycle. If the lid is locked, pausing the machine will allow you to open the lid. Keep in touch! Sue

It locks during cycle but you can pause it at anytime to open it

The locking mechanism only engages during the filling stages.
