Mine is quiet too but once in awhile, it gets very loud, banging noise and it only happens when I’m doing heavy blankets. I realized it happens when it’s trying to balance the load (because of the agitator). So it’s important to load laundry evenly and with heavy beddings especially, you have to wrap the blanket around the agitator evenly. Once I did that, I don’t hear the banging noise anymore.

I've had several washers during my life and although this one is somewhat loud - it's really not louder than the average (older) machines I've had. I suppose if it was not in a separate room, it may be a little bothersome, but a positive view is that you know what it's doing.
