Hello Sue - Thank you for reaching out to us regarding your new range. We are sorry to hear about your concern and we are glad to assist. It is normal to see steam, heat and vapors coming from the oven vent during baking or roasting. Your new oven may be larger than your former range and, therefore, holds more food for baking and roasting. With this increased capacity, you may see an increase in visible steam and vapors. As the number of shelves or amount of food being cooked increases, the amount of heat and visible steam will also increase. We hope this information is helpful. If you have additional questions or concerns, please contact us at: https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/contact.htm Thanks for checking. Olga
