• Hello nancylou, Thank you for reaching out. We can definitely understand your concern about a child turning on the stove. While this range does not have a lock feature, the knobs have to be pressed down and turned to LITE, before the burners will spark. We hope this helps. Stay in touch! Mike@GEA

• You have to push in the knob to turn on, but they still turn easily. We use baby gate to block our 2 year old from entering kitchen.
