Yes, though the temperature probe must be mounted on the frame of the unit and the surrounding temperature seems to factor more into the temperature. Direct sunlight on the AC unit makes it run more often compared to the evening (or in the shade) where it runs less often. I have it set for 72 at night to sleep, but the room reaches 76 at times because the outside temperature factors into the temperature (too much in my opinion). If you put it into cool mode or fan mode and it forces air to move the temperature reading on the unit rises quickly and forces the AC unit to read the inside temperature.
