Q: Questioni like this oven but is it self cleaning ? are both the stove and oven gas? or just the stove? I have natural gas at my old whirlpool oven and recently it won't start and i need a new oven ,i prefer the oven to be on natural gas too.

• A:Answer No, it is not self learning. It has a reservoir to put water that in essence will steam the oven and loosen the grease.

• A:Answer Yes there is a broiler pan as well as a short instruction booklet. however, I do caution you that the broiler is literally on the floor! What's worse is it is not a drawer, but a door that opens out towards you so in order to use it you have to cook from the side! I purchased mine on line without seeing it in person. If I knew the broiler was not usable I never would have bought this range.

Q: QuestionDoes the oven heat up quickly and cook evenly? I like baking cookies and it requires even baking so the cookies on the sides of the baking sheet don’t get too brown while the ones in the middle aren’t fully cooked.

• A:Answer Hi IDAMACS - Thanks for considering GE Model JGBS66REKSS! Gas ovens can take 15-20 minutes to preheat. Many newer ranges have a Preheat that will signal when the oven has reached a temperature hot enough to add food, rather than when the set temperature is reached. Typically the range will signal after about 7-12 minutes, depending of the temperature you set. We test our ranges with prepackaged foods, frozen pizzas, baked goods, etc. We put the items in at the beep, and get good results. This can help save time in the kitchen, since you are not waiting longer for the preheat than necessary, in most cases.Recipes can differ, as can a food's preheat requirements. Most foods we tested don't require additional oven heating, though there are always exceptions. If you're finding a recipe isn't cooking properly, then you may want to turn on the oven a little bit before you start your food preparation to give it a little more time. You can also remove unused racks when using the oven for faster preheat, improved efficiency, and optimal performance. Also, you should expect even heating from your range when baking cookies. During steam clean, the steam will loosen soil on the racks as well as the oven interior, which then can be wiped off with a soapy dishcloth. Q: QuestionDoes the outside get hot to the touch when the oven is in use? We had a stove in our rental a year ago that looks similar to this and it would get SO HOT on the outside if the oven was on that bumping against would burn you.
