The oven works as a convection oven. You don't choose the type of oven. When I bake in the oven, the pies don't crack in the middle like a conventional oven. Cookies brown evenly both tops and bottoms.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This is the second GE range that I have owned with the "convection bake" option. This model has the "convection bake/roast" option, but also has a conventional "Bake" option. There is only one oven chamber with 3 racks and top and bottom heating elements. The convection setting allows a fan to circulate the air within the oven to allow more even heating. I do most of my baking using the convection setting. It works well for cookies, casseroles, biscuits, breads. But hard frozen items (like pizza or frozen lasagna) tend to bake well around the edges, but are undercooked at the center. Baking time remains accurate for recipes and package instructions. I have not had to reduce bake time. I loved the first GE range that I purchased, but had to sell it along with my previous home. Never had any problems or repair issues for 7 years, so purchased GE again when I moved into a new home this year. Satisfied customer!
