“I just purchased this stove and was told that it is self cleaning but not steam cleaning. Is this correct? I specified a self cleaning but not steam cleaning when I purchased it.”

It is self-cleaning. I did not get steam cleaning as it makes any of the debris in the oven "gunky", thick, etc., and you still end up manually cleaning it. I would rather clean a little ash from the self-cleaning than all the gunk left by steam cleaning.
