A:AnswerHi MikeAsks - t is normal operation for radiant elements to cycle on and off (glow red and then go dark) during operation. When the radiant unit is turned on HIGH, the unit will cycle on about 75% of the time and off 25% of the time. On MEDIUM settings, the unit will cycle about 50% on and 50% off. On LOW settings, the unit will cycle about 25% on and 75% off. The type of cookware you use on a radiant cooktop can affect how it performs. We recommend using medium or heavy-weight cookware. Flat Bottom pans are essential for good cooking performance since the bottom of the pan needs to touch the glass for the best heat transfer. See RANGE - COOKWARE USED ON A RADIANT SMOOTH GLASS COOKTOP: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=16259 - Induction cooking technology combines the temperature responsiveness of a gas cooktop, a safer, cooler cooking surface and the ease of cleaning of an electric cooktop. Induction cooking works by using an electromagnetic field to heat the cookware. This is very different from the traditional gas flame or electric coil cooking experience. Special cookware is also needed. Cookware used on an induction cooktop must have iron content. This is what makes the pan magnetic and allows the transfer of energy to the pan or pot you are using. Precision temperature control allows your Induction cooktops to hold a temperature to melt, simmer or boil. A:AnswerHi - Thanks for considering GE! While special cookware is not required, flat bottom pans are essential for good cooking performance since the bottom of the pan needs to touch the glass for the best heat transfer.
