Hi Aileen - Thanks for considering GE Model PGS930SELSS. The maximum height to cooking surface is 36 1/2". Height to cooking surface is adjustable (36 1/4" +/- 1/4") using the leveling legs. It cannot be adjusted to 38". Our ranges are designed for standard 36"H counters.
