Hi BigD67- The gas broil burner is in the lower oven. The low power electric element in the upper oven does not get hot enough to broil. Rather, it is there to provide the right amount of top heat for browning during bake. The lower oven offers Broil Hi/Lo. The Broil High (550F) mode uses intense heat from the upper element or burner to sear foods. The Broil Lo (450F) uses less intense heat from the upper element or burner to cook food thoroughly while also browning the surface.
