• A:Answer This is a comparable replacement in terms of size, features and capacities. If your existing model is built-in, you will need the new 27" - JX7227DLB or the 30" - JX7230DLBB as your existing kit is not compatible with the new microwave. To determine which size you need, measure the overall width of your microwave including the trim on each side.

Q: QuestionI have a GE Profile PEB7227BLTS microwave with the JX7230BLTS trim kit. I need to purchase a new microwave and I am not sure weather the black or gray would be best with my existing trim and black stainless GE appliances.

• A:Answer Our microwave died after 2 years! GE profile has a web site with new models. We found one exactly the same size as our old one. The old trim kit fit on the one. Best Buy employee was very helpful and they can help you with making the right selection.

Q: QuestionI need to replace PEB7226SF1SS (which stopped working after 3 years). Which new model I should order so that I can use existing trim kit? Can my existing trim kit (of PEB7226SF1SS) will work for new PEB7227DLBB?

• A:Answer new microwave is just enough wider and longer that the old does not fit. Screw holes are not the same and the bases design is taller in places. I altered my old one and made it work but it sticks out about 1 inch more than the old. Biggest problem is it is deeper than the old one and sets higher on the base unless you do some creative bending. I needed mine asap for the holiday meal so I made it work.

• A:Answer No idea about size - but I would buy a different microwave! This one is TERRIBLE! The latch door opener broke within first 2 weeks of use - right out of the box - very hard to push to open it, then after they came out to fix it, it broke while the repair guy was here, so had to order all new front door, front panel and latch - after, they scheduled me two times, and I waited all day for technician, I called and they had cancelled my order..so I had to reschedule again - after that time, guy comes out and fixes it with all their new parts, and it would open, but still making the same catching feeling, then broke again, so he took some of the old parts, and mixed them with the new parts, and got it working....I am sure it will break again, as all the parts are cheap and made of plastic gears.... I know because I watched him take it apart and put it back together - We have a spare microwave in garage from Walmart that opens and closes great and will use that when it breaks again. Only reason I ordered this one was because I have a built in space and have to accommodate that.

Q: QuestionI have a 20 year old JE1860GB 001 that is nearing the end of its life. I have the trim covering which has a 24” X 13” opening for the unit. The ext dimensions of the trim covering are 29 3/4” X 19 1/8”. Which microwave should I purchase that will fit?

• A:Answer You will most likely need to purchase a new trim kit to match the new microwave. We replaced a GE microwave model that was only 4 years old and the new replacement (the GE model recommended to replace it) was not compatible with the trim kit. The metal brackets would not work with the new microwave. Good news, though. The new trim kit works well and is designed to be much more sturdy than the old one we replaced. We purchased the GE microwave PEB7227SLSS and the trim kit JX7230SLSS. They are compatible and a great option for replacement.
