• try to stay with microwave size you are using now for clearance around microwave to breath for heat issues.

• Many would fit in that opening but you should check the specs on what you plan to buy before purchasing. Sufficient space around an enclosed microwave is required to allow heat to escape-that should be listed in the specs as well.Hope this is helpful.
