After my first usage there was about a pint of water that I drained- the room had been very humid prior to putting it on. Subsequently it has about 2-4 tablespoons of water for about 10 hours of run time, so the self evaporation feature is working well. It really depends on how much humidity is in the room while it is first put on. If the FL happened immediately, I'd think there was something wrong with the water guage
