Q: QuestionI have the 2 year Geek Squad plan on my TV. My son hit it with a toy and now the pixels are messed up. They will do something to fix this correct? I couldn't purchase a separate accidental plan with it? The TV hasn't had time to collect dust yet.

• A:Answer I'm pretty sure they will but I wouldn't explain to them what happened. Just tell them something is wrong with your T.V and that's it.

Q: QuestionIs a broken TV screen covered under Geek squad protection plan?

Asked 6 years ago by Leti.

This question was asked about the related product: 5-Year Standard Geek Squad Protection

• A:Answer I bought a tv from Best Buy and when they were asking if I wanted to add geek squad protection I asked if it would cover accidental damages to the screen. They said yes. Well here we are. The screen was accidentally damaged by one of my kids and I called and they told me this kind of damage was not covered under the extra protection I purchased. So I paid for that extra coverage for nothing. Even though I was told by an employee it was covered.

Q: QuestionI purchased the 5 year extended warranty on a Sony tv-does that 5 year warranty start after the 1 year warranty from Sony expires or is it 5 years from the date of purchase?

Asked 8 years ago by Robert.

This question was asked about the related product: 5-Year Standard Geek Squad Protection

• A:Answer You are actually purchasing a 5 year warranty that overlaps with the manufacturer warranty. Your 5 year warranty will most likely end 5 years from the purchase date of your tv. The big trick and heist is the way warranty companies use the word "extended". You and I would assume that after the manufacturer warranty runs out, you will have an extension of 5 years. The fine print will tell you that this isn't true. The word "extended" can also mean that you are extended more coverage for a period of 5 years, with an overlap of coverage during the original manufacturer's warranty.

Q: QuestionSo this is just a basic warranty not the one that covers accidental damage? That's what I asked for was the accidental damage protection. My tv was damaged during a move, the screen was dented and now there's no picture just shattered. So I'm out a tv?

• A:Answer I was in your same situation. When I bought it i asked for the accidental plan. When i called to ask about replacement they said what i bought was just basically an extended warranty. Sorry you were misguided as well.

Q: QuestionIf I purchase a Flat Screen and purchase Geek Squad Protection. If it has an issue and you cannot repair it, will replace the item and continue Protection on the replacement product?

Asked 9 years ago by Jim.

This question was asked about the related product: 5-Year Standard Geek Squad Protection

• A:Answer This happened to us. They gave us the full purchase price of our TV toward a new TV. We got the newer, upgraded model for about $50 more. We did have to purchase another protection plan. The old protection plan ended when we used it on our broken TV. We were very happy with the service.

Q: QuestionWhat is '3 or more defective pixels' mean? I have an unbroken dead line that crosses my entire screen... does that qualify for correction?

Asked 8 years ago by raffiedinnyc.

This question was asked about the related product: 2-Year Standard Geek Squad Protection

• A:Answer If the damage is not caused by a drop or other physical damage, a line across the entire screen would definitely be well over 3 dead pixels and should be covered under a warranty or protection plan!

Q: QuestionI purchased the Insignia 55" tv and the 5 yr standard geek squad protection. I was not given any information on it when I picked up the tv. How do I go about getting information on this and a phone number in case I need to use it?

Asked 5 years ago by Sunflowergirl.

This question was asked about the related product: 5-Year Standard Geek Squad Protection

• A:Answer You don't! You cancel your order, stop payment and return IMMEDIATELY!!! We Have Closed Our Best Buy Account The warranty for their televisions is a joke. We have a one-year-old 55” box in our home. One year ago, we purchased a TV from Best Buy w/warranty. Less than a year into new TV, the sound broke. They sent a technician to our home (during COVID) to troubleshoot, order parts and then come back a week later to replace parts. Less than 4 months later, same problem. They have sent new technicians out four additional times before deciding that this was not working. They took our TV to troubleshoot in office. We have been without a television now for 3 weeks. Would you like an Exchange? YES! To bad the exchange policy is an absolute joke. Television was purchased for a sale price of over $500. They offered under $250 for the exchange value. Why? Because I used THEIR rewards dollars to purchase and they do not honor their own rewards dollars. So besides spending enough to earn those dollars and use them towards purchases – they don’t honor them when exchanging their own faulty equipment. Lesson learned – no more Best Buy purchases for me or my family friends. Shame on their Customer Service. I hope that you are able to learn from our mistakes before you loose out on hundreds of hard-earned dollars.

Q: QuestionIf I purchase a TV, and also purchase the 5 year Geek Squad protection plan, does this allow me to bring my TV back after 4 years to replace it with a newer model and simply pay the difference in price? Or is this a different warranty?

Asked 5 years ago by Luis.

This question was asked about the related product: 5-Year Standard Geek Squad Protection

• A:Answer This plan only allows you to replace the TV in the event something happens to your tv. You will be able to upgrade and pay the difference if something happens to your tv.My sharp 58in went out and I used the replacement plan to upgrade to a 60 in lg 4k in which I paid the difference in price. Great peace of mind.

Q: QuestionDoes the 5yrs protection plan cover defective tv screens?

Asked 6 years ago by Jb99.

This question was asked about the related product: 5-Year Standard Geek Squad Protection

• A:Answer Geek Squad tech came and checked my 50" Samsung with its 5-year extended warranty. He said it couldn't be fixed and that I was out of warranty. I was in shock. I found the 5-year warranty, which is still in effect, my tv is now much worse with 5 big glowing white spots the size of a tennis ball. I talked to chat support, they said they would try to help but I need to call Geek squad and explain the problem. The tech that came LIED, he checked the tv, went outside and talked to his "supervisor" to return and tell me it wasn't covered and to buy a new TV, "sorry." That was not correct! I'm going to file a complaint with consumer affairs! They shouldn't sell extended warranties then not honor the warranty.
