You are absolutely correct Gigabyte X670 AORUS ELITE AX (Socket AM5) the top PCIe x16 slot is a PCIe 4.0 slot. But I doubt it really matters AMD has confirmed that its next-gen Radeon RX 7000 series "RDNA 3" graphics card will NOT be using the new PCIe Gen5 "12VHPWR" power connector... which is something we kinda knew already, but now 100% confirmed from AMD themselves. Oct 25, 2022 and Nvidia 4000 series GPU's only support PCIe 4.0 So no matter what you see listed Keep in mind there must be a 6 pin power connector on a Motherboard that will be strictly for powering PCIe Gen 5.0 GPU's or any other Gen 5.0 devices. Bottom line = "Forget About It at least for the next 2 generations or about 4 to 5 years for GPU's
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You would need X670-E Board for PCIE 5.0 expansion other than storage. All AMD 7000 Desktop chips have Pcie-5.0 built into the chips, including iGPUs & DDR5. Next Gen AMD GPUs will use PCIE 5.0 because the standard is changing.
