Because battery outdoor cams are not accommodating. My uncle is an electrical engineer (highly creditable source) and he has had 5 of these outside for 5 years now but they are up against the house (on the house next to a shrub, on a covered patio and front porch, under the top corner frame where the garage door comes down from. I got my wired cam 5 years ago and it did not specify it could only be used indoors or that it could not be used outdoors. So i have had it outside for a year now under the front porch roof at the top of the steps attached to a pole, plugged into an extension cord that goes up to the front porch. I intend to get a case for it. I have not seen “outdoor” nest wired cams sold anywhere. Lori

Use them inside only and keep them out of direct sunlight.
