Q: QuestionI will likely have this plugged in, if I lose power will the camera automatically switch over to battery for continued recording? Seen others that have to be toggled and not used as a backup.

However, the included power adapter is not weatherproof and not intended for outdoor use. We suggest using a compatible weatherproof cable (sold separately). Contact your retailer for inquiries. Also, the Nest Cam (battery) has a local storage fallback that allows it to record videos for up to one hour without Wi-Fi. Q: QuestionCan I plug camera in directly to plug instead of using battery? But if electricity goes out camera will still work and record until power comes back on. Is the quality good in dark,, and will it show in color or black and white?

Q: QuestionIf the indoor cameras do the same thing and the cameras are the same, and this can be plugged in just as the indoor ones can be why is the price not the same as the indoor cameras ($99)? It amazes me that they assume buyers are not smart enough to realize

Q: Questionwhen there is activity, does the app on my google home talk to me to let me know to look at my phone? Example, we have a google speaker in our home, and ask it questions, and play musice etc. Will that speaker notify of activity?

However, you can choose which events your camera can detect and record (people, motion, package, etc.). From there, you (and each member of your home) can decide which of those events to get notifications for. If an event is turned off, you won’t get notifications for that kind of activity. You can also change the settings like adjusting video quality, wake-up sensitivity, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas.
