• A:Answer Yes, that is how I have mines for years with no problem. The only issue is that you cannot use the night vision because of the reflection of the night vision light.

• A:Answer I currently have mine installed outside in a covered porch. Would not get wet but has been cold here in New England and the only issue I have is at times the video quality degrades showing purple shadows. I just turn the camera off and back on again via the app and it clears right up.

• A:Answer Hi Nick, Hope you're doing well. Just a heads-up: since this is the wired Nest Cam, it won't record once it's unplugged. That's the same for all first-generation Nest Cameras. Only the battery-powered Nest Cam models (Nest Cam Battery) can record without being plugged in.

• A:Answer If you’re planning to add the new camera to a Home structure with an existing Nest Aware (2nd gen), the Nest Aware plan will apply to every camera on a given Home structure. Nest Aware (2nd gen) offers a whole home subscription that includes all Nest Cameras, Nest Hello and Google Home and Nest speakers (US only) and displays (US only) in your home. The maximum number of cameras per Home is 10. Since you can have a maximum of 5 Homes (Google migrated account), you can hypothetically have 50 cameras among those 5 Homes, each with Nest Aware (2nd gen) attached to each Home structure and applied to each camera.

Just make sure to set up second-generation cameras in the Google Home app and first-generation cameras in the Nest app.
