The 4K sensor allows for digital zoom without loosing 1080p resolution.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. So essentially it's zoom quality will be better than 1080p. So while it doesn't stream in 1080p when you zoom in you'll get a better quality than you would zooming in on a 1080p camera. (So , say the camera streams 1080p when you zoom in far enough you generally drop to 720p. But with this- 4k sensor, you should not.)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It doesn't record in 4k. The GB of data streaming would be tremendous if it did - remember, this streams 24/7... imagine 24/7 worth of 4k streaming! Anyhow, the 4k comes into play when one zooms in during a live stream. In short, while streaming live, one can zoom in for a slightly clearer image as compared to just 1080p zooming in. I hope this answers your question!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't know what a Nest Base is but you don't need anything that's not included. The cameras can zoom, it "crops" the larger pictures and streams it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The 4k sensor is within the camera and the image gets downscaled to 1080p the reason they do this is to give you better image quality when you zoom in on the image while not using too much internet bandwidth by downgrading the quality to the 1080p resolution. If they left it in 4k it would use much more internet bandwidth.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The resolution is fabulous so nothing is lost.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It saves still images at 4k resolution. It also improves video quality when using digital zoom due to the ability to oversample.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.1) BASE You gotta either rig up some kind of tie wrap mount like I did, or land it on a shelf or piece of furniture. The base has a threaded hole in the back, but I could never find a mounting stud in my parts pile which would work. Oh well........NEST needs to toss in a magnetic mount like the next level down NEST cams. Send me mine first please. 2) 4K NEST did you a big favor limiting the output to 1080. Try streaming a 4K live feed to your through your cell phone carrier..............kaBOOM. No go and it would take forever. This is a home security cam. 1080 is good enough for most of us. I can stream, 4K NETFIX at home through my ATT commercial fiberoptic feed which clocks in @1,000 MPS up/down at the router and 400 MPS up/down next to the Google Mesh router, but even so why would I want to ? Are you in the "Adult Entertainment Industry" by chance ? (just joking !)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.4K sensor is kinda uselesss. I was not able to figure out that marketing point. It records, saves clips and views in 1080P or less.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The sensor allows up to 4k resolution.
