Hi there, thank you for your inquiry. The new Google Nest Learning Thermostat (4th Gen) does not require a sensor to function properly. However, for optimal temperature control and comfort, we strongly recommend using a sensor. You may also place the Google Nest Temperature Sensor in a different room to monitor and control the temperature in that specific area.
