• If all of the thermostats in your home are Nest Thermostats, an older version and a newer version will work together no problem through the Nest app.

• I have 2 units, and they can be controlled thru the same app. I think this should work.

• I am not sure about the Thermostat E but for the Nest stainless I have an older version and a new version and it shows up in the app just fine under the same house. I would believe the Thermostat E would be the same.

• Yes you can run two nest thermostats upstairs and downstairs with the app.
