“I have a basic thermostat now - i tried one of the new Nest thermostats and it didnt work because i do not have a C wire - that provides on going power to the unit. Will this work without that?”

Your best bet here is to download the Nest app first and you will find out if your current a/c unit will work with this thermostat. Don’t buy the thermostat just yet if the app doesn’t tells you to do it.

Please try again later.If the Nest Learning Thermostat wasn't able to control your system properly without a common wire, then the Nest E wouldn't work without a common wire on your system, as all of our Nest Thermostats use the same process to charge the internal battery without a common wire.
