“I need to buy this phone to replace a damaged phone on my current AT&T Plan. Does that count as activation? I try to add this phone but it says add a line. I just want to pay cash with insurance money to replace broken phone.”

I bought mine deactivated and took it to an AT&T store to activate. They said if it's just a replacement all I needed to do was swap the SIM card and I'd be good to go.
