my friend purchased a pixel 3 XL (no VZplan as of now in the phone) for me and planning to use it in my country with other service provider SIM.As of now no SIM has inserted..shall i use this phone in my country OR do we need to unlocked it from VZ first? null

As long as it's been activated on Verizon and paid off, you should be able to use it on any other carriers

Based on my experience, you should be able to use it with any carrier in the world.
