The rule is Pixel watches are most compatible and works seamlessly with Pixel phones. Apple watches are only compatible with Apple phones. I found this fact out the hard way.

Google attempted design this watch to work with any phone. As long as you have the Fitbit app. However you still need to look for Pixel watch app and Google fit app. If they are not available in the Apple store then no this will not work on an iPhone. Also consider the battery life for this first watch is the worst of all the smart watches.
