The jump in price is because the processing power is far superior to the 3+ if you use the app on your phone the remote is obsolete. If you don't care so much about the quality (because it's going to be awesome either way) then go for the silver edition of the 4, it comes with a built in screen to view what you're shooting but the processing power is inferior.

NO MEMORY CARD, NO LCD SCREEN AND NO WIFI REMOTE. It is a high jump because the GoPro 4 has more new features like 4K recording, more fps recording in most of the video sizes and you are now able to take night shots with better quality as you can now control the aperture time.

But on in my new camp (the Sony AS100) the prices are not much better. Sony was ahead of the game by releasing so many accessories with the cameras, but they still think molded plastic is akin to gold. If you buy and use these cameras, you will need at least one custom mount to be hands free, so accept that as a cost of acquisition and it will be absorbed by the noise of the purchase price.
