When I was having the same problem I emailed Guardzilla's tech support. He said it could only connect to the router under 50 feet away. Mine is under 30 feet and still has connection issues. Mine is always plugged in too and it seems like it drains the battery somehow.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Mine works fine with batteries and plugged in. not even sure how to take batteries out. contact their customer service dept. I called them for an issue and they were very friendly and helpful.

I connected the unit to my home network and all went well. I don't know how your network is configured, but it certainly sounds like a network configuration issue to me. I would give Guardzilla a call, or email their support line, and perhaps they can provide some guidance. All in all, my experience with the unit has been very good,
