• The plug is attached to the side and does not come off. When washing the cord hangs off the entire pot...choose another brand and type, do yourself and your wallet a favor!

• Thank you for your question. The cord is located on the bottom of the unit in the back. The coffee will remain hot until unit is turned off and unplugged.
