I had this on one I purchased, I have owned three of these, one in our mtr home, one in our residence and the one I had to return for a replacement. Otherwise I've not had any problems with them. I love the availability to brew a pot, or a single cup! Hope this helps!

As far as the water reservoir, I'm at a loss. Might call 1-800-851-8900. That's the number if you have questions on your Hamilton Beach 2-way FlexBrew. I have my instruction book if you need a copy.

How old is your pot? Ours are still fairly new and we use bottled water, not tap water, because we have a water well and very hard water. What did she clean with? Vinegar? If it's a recent purchase I believe I would return it.
