When you go to the Hamilton beach site click on the flex brew coffee maker then scroll down and click on the word features. they tell you it has the same features as the 49983a, the 49983p and the 49983s...they do not use bpa to harden the plastic on the parts that the coffee comes in contact with. I did some investigating before I made my purchase My 12 cup flex brew coffee maker has a timer feature, and a clock you can choose bold or regular- regular is great for me. you can do a 8oz to 14oz cup on the k-cup side. I really like my coffee maker I hope they continue to make it it is very stylish too! You can always call Hamilton Beach and they can confirm the BPA features.
