Then after the paper towel is soaked and the grill plate has cooled off , You take it off and throw it away and then you get another paper towel and dip it in a little soap water and rub it clean. Then, you get another paper towel with clean rise water and wipe off the soap. Do not immerse in water.

I followed the cleaning instructions (from included manual) to the letter after first use, and was disappointed with results. Had to repeat. The manual says: while unit is still hot, place wet paper towel on surface, close, and let it steam 30 seconds before wiping down with same paper towel using non-metal utensil. I used my hands. I repeated this process a couple times before it was too cool to work. Finally I let it cool down completely before cleaning both grill surfaces again with warm, wet, soft cloth and just my hands. Maybe it would've worked better if I had used a lot of paper towels the first time, to make sure complete surface touches the towel.

To clean the grill, please follow these intructions: Unplug Grill while it is still hot.Lay a wet paper towel on the hot Grill. Close and allow to steam. When steam begins to subside (approximately 30 seconds), wipe grids with the still-wet paper towel held with tongs that will not scratch the nonstick coating."
