This tuner has one antenna infeed and an network connection (ethernet) outfeed . From the network connection you connect to your home network then to a smart TV/Device. On the smart TV/Device you install the Homerun app. Unless your DVD recorder has a network connection and the ability to install apps you may be out of luck.

The way HDHomeRun devices work is they connect directly to your router, and then they serve video streams to apps and devices specifically designed to accept those streams. So, for example, if you have an iPad, you can download the HDHomeRun app. And if you want to record, you can install DVR software on your PC or NAS. Or you can buy an HDHomeRun SCRIBE, which will both grab the TV from the antenna and provide a dedicated DVR that can be accessed from your HDHomeRun apps.
