• It dont have to be connected to the internet only if you want to use the streaming apps. You can hook up to cable box or dvd player if you dont want it connected to youe internet.

• You will have to connect it to the AT&T Wi-Fi once you get it home to use any internet device like Netflix, hulu and so on. If you have a dvd player then no you will be all set.
