“Is there a way to know if the TV is actually receiving an HDR signal? I have several inputs going through a receiver that supports HDR. One of which is an Apple TV 4K that is setup to deliver 4K 60Hz HDR.”

You have to first put it on the input then play a movie on the Apple TV 4K. Then go into the tv settings with out changing input and go into the support setting and click on the channel signal. It should display resolution and if HDR is being used. Also, make sure HDR is set to automatic under setting for all inputs.
