no, but need subscriptions for streaming such as for netflix or prime if have those subscriptions when log on through Roku the subscription will ask you to log into the streaming channel.

No. It hooks up to any cable box, streaming box, etc. Just purchasing my first smart tv I dont have any yet and im watching dish til i figure which one i want to add b4 i cancel my cable. Way cheaper than cable.
