“Can I program this thermostat to have heat pump locked down in stage 1, or either unlock and allow system to determine if it should run in stage 1 or 2? Does panel show what stage heat pump is programmed to run in and what stage it is actually running in?”

Hi MikMav, this thermostat will automatically calculate when to start running the second stage of heat when the heat pump is not keeping up. Our trade thermostats have more advanced settings like droop, timer or compressor lockout, we recommend you reaching out to your HVAC contractor to recommend you and install one of our trade models. - Maria
