“If power out for 8 hours and we are out of town---will thermostat reconnect with WIFI automatically and resume schedule. Without batteries concerns me - how long does INTERNAL THEMOSTAT BACKUP in terms of hours? 4? 8? 12? 24?”

Hi RickOhio! If your thermostat is disconnected from the Internet when you are not home, unfortunately, there is no way to tell why the thermostat lost connection, only that the connection was lost. If the cause is a power outage or something similar, the thermostat is designed to automatically reconnect to Wi-Fi once the power is restored. -John
