There is nothing about this thermostat that is different from any other programmable thermostat that would address any of these questions. What is unique is that it becomes a node on your WiFi ethernet and it gets its electric power from your furnace rather than from a battery. As a result you can set up an internet account in Honeywell Home and by logging into it from your smart phone or computer monitor and change temperature.
