“Is the difference between the "germ" and "general clean" setting just the fan speed (with the "germ" setting being the lower fan speed)? Does the "general clean" setting remove germs as well as the "germ" setting?”

We wondered about the same issues as you had brought up. "General Clean" is strong fan..."Allergens" (less strong) "Germ" setting is lowest fan. "Turbo" is the strongest and loudest (similiar to strong fan noise--but not rattling. No complaints from neighbors above). Hope that helps. Perhaps you can call the manufacturer.

The different speeds are the speeds as which the listed particles are best pulled towards the unit. The filters will capture 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns in size and larger that get drawn into the filter. While the filters will capture the same particles at any speed, the different speeds will draw the particles at different speeds and rates.
