No. It's soft with a small amount of padding.

No it’s very soft. The only reinforcement come from the cardboard material lining the back and front of the case. The sides have no reinforcement so a drop from more than a foot would damage your switch especially with the joy cons attached

The case isn't metal but it is firm and sturdy. It's definitely NOT a soft case.
