Hello and thanks so much for the interest in this range full of character. The manual covers a few different model ranges so you will notice "(cordless ranges)" in the area about the battery. As this model has a cord to run off a traditional outlet, this section does not apply to this model. Hope this helps clear things up. - John@GEAppliances
