My son is 11 years old and my friend's children are 13 and 15 and they were all able to have fun on it after a very short learning curve. Center of gravity is low so it is easy to balance. Safety gear (helmets and pads) are highly recommended as the wheels are much smaller than a regular bicycle, so sudden twists on the handle becomes sharp turns. At high speed that will lead to a lost in control so they have to learn to change directions by leaning. There are 3 speed settings so use it to match the rider's skill.
