It means that someone bought the computer and returned it after a very short time (it may be buyer's remorse, it could be because it wasn't a good fit for what the user wanted to do, or there could be another reason). The Best Buy team tests the computer to make sure there isn't a defective part, and resets it back to it's original configuration and settings. But because it was used, it can't be sold as a new unit, so it's sold as an "open box"
