S Mode prevents any software not in the MS Store from being installed, and even some that ARE in the Store. So you have to exit out of S Mode to install any other antivirus, whether it is Norton, McAfee, Trend Micro, Kaspersky, etc., so it's kind of a trade-off between choosing different approaches to software protection.
