- Answer S mode is a version of Windows that only lets you install apps form the Microsoft app store and use the Edge web browser. You can switch the laptop out of S mode in the settings for free.

- Answer You will be able to run Ubuntu or Linux on this unit if you have the knowledge necessary. Not sure about them preloading however with research you will be able to figure it out. Have a good USB drive ready with loads of room or an external harddrive.

- Answer Yes and No. No, it doesn't have a built-in CD/DVD drive. Yes, I can play CDs and DVDs on either of our laptops because as I was walking to the checkout with the first one, I picked up an external CD/DVD Drive with a USB3 connector cord for $29.99. - Answer These laptops DON'T Have a hard drive. They use SSD memory -- like what is in "thumb" drives and SD memory cards. You can buy a 256GB micro-SD card for $49.99 and insert its adaptor in the SD card slot and double the memory to 512 Gigabytes. If that's not enough, you can get external hard drives that plug into a USB port (3 available) and go way up into Terabytes-storage. I've put five hard-drive backups on a half-Terabyte external drive with space left over.
